Sao Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) kicked off yesterday evening and Cia Maritima closed the night, with a star-studded cast of international models. Esti Ginzburg (Israel), Sylvia Geersen (Holand), and Brazilian supermodels Isabeli Fontana, Izabel Goulart and Emanuela de Paula, took to the runway in a glitzy collection inspired by the exotic land of Morocco.

Cia Maritima's Summer 2011 collection is filled with sensuality, glamour and undeniable allure. Benny Rosset and his team combined the jet-set lifestyle appeal with references of the desert to present us with a dazzling collection that can be best described as "ethnic-chic." Details such as mother-of-pearls, small coin-like hardware, gems, beads and studs all lend to the glamour of the pieces, while the fluid kaftans, sarouel pants, animal prints and intricate patterns remit to the desert from which the collection was inspired.

One of the best attributes we found from Cia Maritima's 2011 collection was its versatility. Silhouettes varied from the full, skirted asymmetric bottom to the tiny brazilian cut bottom. Tops followed the same direction and you could see bra tops, bandeaus, sliding triangle, halter, etc. Also spotted were a monokini with a one-shoulder strap and a criss-cross draped number in black against a croc print - pure luxury!

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Cia Maritima demonstrates how still today, it remains modern and relevant in the designer swimwear world: by delivering collections, year after year, that are chic, universally appealing, with high quality and a distinctive flair - all of which have become characteristics of the brand.
