The fashion show season is underway and top swimwear designers in both hemispheres are starting to give us a glimpse of what's going to be hot in swimwear for 2011. Yesterday, Salinas showcased their collection during the first day of Fashion Rio - Summer 2011 and here is our coverage of their show!

Brazilian model Raquel Zimmermann and Glee's Matthew Morrison rock the glam look in the June's issue of Vogue for the magazine's "Two if by Sea" feature. With the focus on luxury swimwear that is sufficiently chic to be paired with daywear (and still pull off that flossy look!), the feature was shot in a paparazzi-style by Mikael Jansson. The Kardashians' collection for Beach Bunny launched last week, bringing the sisters' glossy style and accentuated sex appeal into a familiar territory - a designer swimwear label known for much the same traits! Click to view the collection.

While not carrying designer swimwear labels per se, the campaign for H&M's 2010 swimwear line is certainly worth mentioning. Supermodels Julia Stegner, Daria Werbowy, Sasha Pivovarova, Erin Wasson and Lara Stone looked like they were having fun while being photographed by Patrick Demarchelier against the beautiful St Barts waters for the department store's campaign.

Designer swimwear label Pistol Panties is launching an exclusive collection next month for British department store John Lewis called "Disco by Pistol Panties". While the eight pieces in the collection will not be available until May 1, we are sure we will be seeing more of PP's "bond girl femininity" styles, pin-up and retro inspired glamour beachwear that make the brand easy to spot.

Recently, we have been noticing a hot new trend in one-piece swimsuits all over the designer swimwear world: deep, V-cut, plunging necklines to sexy and dizzying heights! Virtually every designer has one in their collection this season and they are showing how deep V-necklines can really amp up the sexiness level of one-piece swimsuits. But beware: not to be confused with monokinis, which have the sides cut-out, these are glamorous full-blown one-pieces with plunging necklines. They turn out to be much sexier and sophisticated than a lot of monokinis, in our opinion!

Supermodel Ana Beatriz Barros has recently been recruited as the new face of British mega-retailer Marks & Spencer. Aside from being the 'it' girl for M&S lingerie campaigns, Ana is lending her spark to a sizzling swimwear campaign. As expected, the swimsuits selected for the photo shoot have a bit more of a designer swimwear flair than you would typically find in a mass-retail store, featuring some of the latest trends in swimwear fashion, such as eye-popping embellishments, Brazilian cut bikinis, ruching, and shoulder-baring bandeau tops.

2010 marks the 15th year that Victoria's Secret puts together its swimwear catalog, filled with the latest tendencies in women's swimwear - and of course, some of the best looking models in the industry! To celebrate the landmark, VS released a video with a montage of the 15 years of the specialty catalog. One of the most interesting aspects (for us!) is to see how the trends in swimwear change over the years. Check this out!
