ELLE Brazil Summer Preview 2013 - Swimwear Collections
by The Splash
In celebration of its 24 years in Brazil, Elle magazine organized the Elle Summer Preview 2013 event last Saturday - a fashion show bringing together eight Brazilian beachwear labels to showcase a small sample of their 2013 collections ahead of the Fashion Weeks in Brazil (Fashion Rio, beginning next week and Sao Paulo Fashion Week, in June). Set atop Sao Paulo's Estiada bridge, top Brazilian models Isabeli Fontana, Izabel Goulart, Ana Beatriz Barros, Shirley Mallmann, Lais Ribeiro, Guisela Rhein and more brought to life a preview of the 2013 collections from swimwear designers Adriana Degreas, Agua de Coco, Blue Man, Cia Maritima, Lenny, Movimento, Salinas and Triya. Here are each designer's inspiration for their upcoming lines and the resulting vision:

ADRIANA DEGREAS
Collection inspiration: Bahia (northeastern state in Brazil, with a heavy historical African influence). Turbants, cuffs, and accessories that evoke the mysticism of the region shared the spotlight with fluid, transparent and shimmery fabrics, in a palette composed of nude and golden shades:

AGUA DE COCO
Collection inspiration: Istanbul and Cappadocia region. Patterns paying homage to traditional Turkish designs, lots of graphical elements and slits in the fabrics:

BLUE MAN
Collection inspiration: Tropical Pop. Blue Man brought fruits, flowers and leaves to the forefront on patterns that basked in a colorful concoction of greens, blue, reds and yellow - and a nod to 70s fashion with the styling and a tie-dye number:

CIA MARITIMA
Collection inspiration: Retro Hawaii. Lots of flower patterns in lively colors and different sizes, feminine silhouettes and the inclusion of neoprene in certain styles for a more sporty look:

LENNY NIEMEYER
Collection inspiration: Urban Nature. Landscapes depicting harmonious instances of the encounter between nature and the "concrete jungle" inspired the line that aptly combined different shades of green and gray. Lenny chose a pattern representing a forest under a bridge for Elle's Summer Preview:

MOVIMENTO
Collection inspiration: Corals & Flowers. With a palette rich in reds and oranges, Movimento selected flower prints with embroidery application and off-white or black backgrounds to showcase at the Preview:

SALINAS
Collection inspiration: Japan. Oriental flowers, origami accessories and vivid prints led the way in a palette composed of black, reds and yellows. Textured materials and mixed prints added to the typical flair of the Salinas-girl:

TRIYA
Collection inspiration: Holi Festival. India's Spring festival, a celebration of colors where people throw colored powder and water at each other producing a beautiful mixture of hues, was one of the inspirations for Triya's collection. The joyful spirit of the festival was depicted in the lively digital prints and a palette that virtually included all rainbow colors:
