Sao Paulo Fashion Week 2012: Adriana Degreas
by The Splash
Pure luxury. The 2012 collection of swimwear designer Adriana Degreas can be described in these two words, one representing the pure, clean lines and the other the ritzy elegance of the fabrics, colors and embellishments. Reprising a glamorous appearance in last year's Sao Paulo Fashion Week, Degreas underscores her place in the pantheon of high luxury swimwear designers.
Dedicated to the Brazilian divas from the 70s and their "chic way of being", Adriana Degreas 2012 explored sophistication with a tropical twist. Indigenous figures captured by oil paintings from Deutsch painter Albert Eckhout shared the spotlight with palm leaves, birds and feathers. Everything very tastefully done, with a distinct tropical chic appeal.
Palette & Silhouettes
Tying in with the theme of the collection, nature and the tropics were well represented in elegant shades of green, brown, yellow and blues. Degreas' utilization of satin and hints of shimmer add an instant luxury allure to the collection. Silhouettes went from low-cut/high-waist, retro-like bottoms to dizzying high cuts on the legs (and some in between!) Bandeau tops were mini, significant smaller than usually seen. Kaftans are flowing, chic and simply to die for!
