With an homage to signature styles created by the late David Azulay, founder of Blue Man, the new team formed by David's daughter Sharon and nephew Thomaz, took a colorful and energized collection to Rio catwalks. David is credited with inventing the tie-side bottom bikinis - given the lack of elasticity in Blue Man's denim swimsuits which were created by David in the early 70s, he found this innovative and now widely embraced method of bikini customization. At the Fashion Rio catwalk this month, Blue Man classics like denim bikinis and vibrant patterns were reinvented with a modern twist.

Inspiration
Natural wonders of Brazil and the world inspired Blue Man's 2012 swimwear line. Beautiful tropical prints and colors permeated the collection, with lush leaves and birds that shouted: take me to the Tropics, now!

Palette & Silhouettes
Reds through yellow, blues through green (and everything in between!) were heavily present, as expected from the tropical theme of the collection. Cuts were varied, with relatively small two-pieces (again, signature of Blue Man suits) and some larger one-pieces. Silhouettes were very creative, with some interesting wrap around, twisted, square bandeau and crisscross features. We loved the colorful pieces of the collection and how they relate to Blue Man's capacity over the years to capture the Ipanema beachgoers spirit.
