Sao Paulo Fashion Week 2012: Movimento
by The Splash
Bursts of color, geometric shapes, and playful silhouettes are the ingredients making up Movimento's 2012 collection. The label is betting on a casual, colorful and flirty palette that shouts: Summer is here!
Inspired by the universe of visual arts and painting in special, the 2012 swimwear by Movimento was the canvas for the dance of colors presented on the runway. A collaboration with Brazilian artist George Barbosa, who created hand-painted patterns for the label, provided a watercolor-like quality to the designs.
Palette & Silhouettes
Reds, orange, greens and blues composed the palette. In whichever shape the suit appears, color is the key for Movimento 2012 - and lots of it! Geometric forms appeared in both cuts and patterns, lending a contemporary feel to some pieces. On the other hand, more feminine aspects like ruffles, bows and pastel hues provided for a more romantic look for some of the collection. The label also played with proportions, by counterpointing mini-and-maxi elements, such as high-waisted bottoms and bandeau, thick-strap halter top and small, low-rise bottom, and so forth.
